Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act
Louisiana is looking for new and innovative products to save their wetlands. One demonstration project is chosen each year for study. Many are proposed and a year long process begins to narrow the field to one. The process is voted on by the U.S Army Corps, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, EPA, U.S.D.A. Natural Resource Conservation, State of Louisiana, and National Marine Fisheries. In 2008, the field was narrowed from 9 to 3 contestants. At the last meeting, in a compromise, the panel agreed to increase the demonstration project fund to $3M to test several products in one area. EcoSystems will be considered for this project, but to date the RFP's have not been released. Here we are in 2009 and EcoSystems is again being considered for a second demonstration project. The field of contestants is narrowed to three and EcoSystems is one of them.
